What Exactly is a Printer Meter Read?

Close-up of a counter

Most office machine providers regularly contact customers asking for the meter or copy count for their machine(s) as part of routine maintenance. But there’s more to the process than meets the eye. Obtaining an accurate copy count for a copier or multifunction product enables providers to effectively manage the contract and maintain a customer’s office equipment. Providing current meter readings promotes accurate invoicing, eliminates excess copy charges, and tracks the life-expectancy of your machines. In addition, reporting your current meter reading is helpful when you order or replace supplies. Having the machine ID number available enables providers to quickly access a customer's account. Meter information can also be emailed, faxed, or called in. Most invoices now include a designated place for a meter read.
